Kentucky vs. Florida Post-Game Quotes On what Kentucky could have done differently..... "That's about as tough as it gets. It was
a game that I thought we did a lot of good things in and had an opportunity obviously to seal the deal and couldn't finish it. I thought this team battled hard. There are a lot of things where, if we do one thing different.... it might not have come down to the finish that we did have. With that being said, we
need to finish the deal."
INSIDE KENTUCKY- A losing tradition There were still more than three minutes to play, and their team needed only a field goal to force
overtime. But that didn't stop a large group of Kentucky fans from heading for the exits Saturday.
2 major blunders hurt UK A year ago, Kentucky's special teams almost pulled out a big upset victory in The Swamp. On Saturday, they
probably cost the Wildcats a victory.
Lorenzen blames self for UK loss It was a blind throw. Some might call it blind luck.

Peanuts' gang took the field, they always lost.
Defense did its job; a day at the Beech The Kentucky defense did its part.
Fate, Gators bite UK again Up 21-3, Cats find way to lose to Florida, 24-21.
Another patented Kentucky meltdown In time, Rich Brooks will learn that resistance is futile. Until then, he will shake his head, roll his eyes and wave off
suggestions that the University of Kentucky football program, the one Brooks now coaches, is cursed, jinxed, tormented or legally bound to lose games like the one the Wildcats lost to Florida yesterday, 24-21.
Cats, eager to play again, must wait until Oct. 9 From a physical standpoint, the University of Kentucky football team is ready for an off weekend.
PILING ON HEARTBREAK WEIGHS ON WILDCATS
Hello darkness, my old friend. Welcome to Kentucky football, Rich Brooks. Welcome to intolerable cruelty, the never-ending story. See if this doesn't just pull your heart out and sledgehammer it into tiny little pieces:
This defeat the most painful for Lorenzen One by one, 70,579 had filed out of the
football house of horrors we call Commonwealth Stadium. But a single, solitary person would not leave.
NO FINISHING SCHOOL UK blows 18-point lead in latest
loss to Florida The Kentucky football team needed certain things to happen to have a chance to knock off Florida for the first time in 17 years yesterday.
Key calls, miscues set up Cats' late slide Several key plays contributed to the Cats'
slow fizzle in yesterday's 24-21 loss to Florida, but the biggest was a costly flag for having 12 men on the field with the Gators set to punt deep in their own territory late in the third quarter with UK sitting on a comfortable 21-3 lead.

Kentucky Falls To No. 25 Florida, 24-21
Johnny Lamar's 35-yard interception return set up Ron Carthon's 1-yard touchdown run with 3:15 remaining as No. 25 Florida rallied from an 18-point deficit to beat Kentucky 24-21 Saturday. Trailing 21-3 after three quarters, the Gators (3-2, 1-1 SEC) scored three
touchdowns in the fourth to complete the biggest road comeback in school history. Kentucky's Taylor Begley missed a 50-yard field-goal attempt with 44 seconds left that could have forced overtime.
Gators face must-win scenario Who's the underdog here? With No. 25 Florida starting a new quarterback and looking vulnerable, Kentucky waxes confident.
Gators Defense vs. Wildcat Offense Under head coach Ron Zook, the Gators defense has played well following losses. This season, the Gators defense
responded well against Florida A&M, they will need to do the same against Kentucky. There will be much more of a challenge playing on the road against an experienced quarterback (Jared Lorenzen). Ron Zook needs to be ale to rely on the defense to take some of the pressure off the needy offense.
Gators Offense vs. Wildcat Defense The Gators quarterback rotation is finally over. Chris Leak will get the start in Lexington, the Gators
first SEC road game of the 2003 season. Leak has looked good in both Gators wins, however has thrown interceptions in key situations in the losses to Miami and Tennessee. Chris Leak has the arm strength to win as a freshman, he is a smart player and plays with emotion and gets his teammates to play inspired
football.
Kentucky has its chance to doom Gators’ season Big game today. Huge. Florida at Kentucky is large. Not for the national
title race. Not just for the SEC. Not just for the Eastern Division. For the post-season.
Confident Leak ready to patch Gators' woes When Florida Coach Ron Zook told true freshman quarterback Chris
Leak that he'd start today against Kentucky, there really was no reaction.
No. 25 Florida at Kentucky Lorenzen (known as "J. Lo.," "The Hefty Lefty" and "Fat Boy") is
surprisingly nimble for his size and has a nice arm. He would be helped by a strong running game, and to that end, UK coaches have turned to Arliss Beach as the new starting tailback.
Beach ready for his turn At around noon today, Kentucky sophomore Arliss Beach will probably be about as nervous as he's been in his life.
Nice time to watch some TV There's good reason to huddle around the television sets this weekend.
How 'bout NFL for dessert- When you weigh close to 300 pounds, you expect to be tagged with a few unflattering nicknames.
Gators pin hopes on freshman quarterback Can a freshman quarterback -- even one as heralded as Chris Leak -- be the answer for a
struggling college football power such as Florida?
Much has changed since that '86 upset Preparation for this game, the one the University of Kentucky football team will play against the not-Steve
Spurrier's Florida Gators today in Commonwealth Stadium, demands huddling with paleontologists.
Cats hope offense can open it up Coaches want to take burden off Lorenzen
Young Gators give UK hope FRESHMEN DOT THE FLORIDA
LINEUP Has Kentucky beaten Florida in football in the past 16 years? No. Other than a couple of occasions, has Kentucky even come close? Does history give us any reason to believe this will change? No.
Cats look to loosen Gators' grip AT 2-2, FLORIDA
LOOKING MORTAL COMING INTO COMMONWEALTH What once was viewed as a mere formality for the Florida football program has turned into an absolute necessity for Gators Coach Ron Zook.
Brooks shakes up lineup Kentucky Coach Rich Brooks has shown he's not afraid to
shuffle his lineup in order to find the right combination. Brooks has made several lineup changes in the first few weeks of the season, and the Cats will have a different look for this afternoon's game as well.
GAMES WITHIN THE GAME Breaking down the
Florida-Kentucky matchups The Chris Leak era officially begins this afternoon in Commonwealth Stadium, and Kentucky hopes the Gators' true freshman saves his coming-out party for another week. Leak was one of the most decorated prep players in history, as his 185 touchdown passes
were a national record and his 15,593 passing yards ranked second all-time.

- Brooks emotional enough for Cats Kentucky coach Rich Brooks knows he's been criticized for not being emotional enough in his first season with the Wildcats.
- Thornton comes to punting rescue During spring practice, fall camp, and as little as three weeks ago, the thought of a Kentucky punter earning Southeastern Conference
Player of the Week awards seemed laughable.
- Brohm still mum on college choice Trinity High School quarterback Brian Brohm is not locked into a timetable for announcing his college choice, his father said yesterday.
- QB Lorenzen relishes carrying load Sneaking anywhere is difficult when you are as large as Jared Lorenzen, but his crafty determination is never more evident than when
it's time to step on a scale.
- Kentucky's QB Lorenzen uses large stature to his advantage NFL scouts bring it up more often than not. Reporters have asked about it in nearly every interview. Kentucky quarterback Jared
Lorenzen is big. It’s true.
He’s listed at 260 pounds, and that’s a little kind.
- We'll take pass deep down field vs. 'Cats The bad news for the Gators? Kentucky completed a Hail Mary pass last week.
- Gators out one OLB After stormy weather pushed the Gator defense under the newly constructed part of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and the offense to the Florida
volleyball courts for practice Thursday evening, coach Ron Zook refused to talk to the media, saying he had team meetings to attend.
- Looking over his shoulder Anthony Thornton figures he's won Kentucky's starting punting job four times this year. But even though he's the reigning Southeastern Conference special
teams player of the week, Thornton doesn't necessarily expect to keep his job.
- Gators look to end losing feeling Like a star player nursing a season-ending injury, UF just wants to feel good again.
- Bizarre injury slows ex-SCC star Draak Davis knew things would be different playing in the Southeastern Conference, but not being able to blow his nose?
- Big Blue Thoughts with Mitch Barnhart One of my priorities for Kentucky Athletics is to ensure our student-athletes and coaches have the finest facilities possible in which to train, compete and learn in. We
are blessed to have some wonderful facilities, such as our Ohio Casualty CATS Academic Center, Commonwealth Stadium, Rupp Arena and the Boone Tennis Complex.
- BROOKS HOPES HE CAN BUILD ON AWARD-WINNING WEEK During spring practice, fall camp, and as little as three weeks

Keep an eye on those ’Cats There had been some missed kicks and minor mishaps, but nothing to indicate a major meltdown might be imminent. Then it

Cats turn must win into big win The Cats didn't strut from their 34-17 victory in front of a crowd of 34,829 at Memorial Stadium, but

DiNardo's decision is hard to believe Yesterday Indiana made the most jug-headed, bizarre and stone-cold silly penalty decision of the weekend,
