  • Kentucky Has No Answer For Florida Offense, Falls, 13-4    For the second consecutive day the Kentucky baseball team lost to Florida, as the Gators downed the Cats, 13-4, on Saturday, May 17, in Gainesville. The Florida offense was hitting on all cylinders, pounding out 16 hits en route to the victory.

The win was the last at home for Madison, who is retiring at the end of the season after serving 25 years at the helm of the Kentucky program.

  • Kentucky Wins Series With Vandy, 6-5, In Extra Innings On Senior Day    Spencer Graeter delivered a game winning single in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Kentucky baseball team past Vanderbilt, 6-5, Sunday afternoon at Cliff Hagan Stadium. The Cats also said good-bye to five seniors before the game, as Caleb Brock, Gordon Tyler, Scott Wade, Russ Rutherford and Brad Pickrell were honored in pre-game Senior Day festivities.

For this, we can thank -- or blame -- the game's rule makers.   • Kentucky Pays Tribute To Its Coach Then Beats Vandy, 5-1    The Kentucky baseball team evened its series with the Vanderbilt Commodores, taking a 5-1 victory Saturday afternoon on Keith Madison Day at Cliff Hagan Stadium. Heath Castle threw a complete game for the win, striking out five batters and giving up only one earned run on five hits. Prior to the game Kentucky paid tribute to Madison, who is in his 25th and final season as Head Coach.
  • Keith Madison Day Photo Gallery    Kentucky honored long-time head coach Keith Madison before today's baseball game with Vanderbilt for his 25 years at the helm of the squad. On April 1, Madison announced that this will be his final season as the Wildcats' skipper.

An on-campus appeals committee granted his request to remove many of WKU's restrictions on his transfer.
  • SEC decision on Georgia player on hold    A Lexington TV station reported Thursday night that University of Kentucky basketball recruit Mohamed Abukar will have to wait until next week for the Southeastern Conference to rule on an appeal filed on his behalf by UK and Florida regarding his ability to attend an SEC school without having to pay his own way for the first two seasons.

  • Kentucky Baseball Announces Schedule Change, Prepares For Louisville    The Kentucky baseball team has announced that its game with Morehead State, scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, has been postponed due to final exams. The Cats and Eagles will now play on Wednesday, May 14, at Cliff Hagan Stadium at 6 p.m. EST. UK's game with Tennessee Tech, originally scheduled for May 14 has now been cancelled.
  • Gamecocks blank Wildcats 5-0    Michael Campbell's single sparked a two-out rally in the sixth inning as host South Carolina scored four runs on six consecutive hits yesterday on its way to beating the University of Kentucky baseball team 5-0 and sweeping the three-game series.

  • Wildcats Are Swept At South Carolina With 5-0 Sunday Loss    The Kentucky baseball team fell victim to South Carolina, 5-0, on Sunday as the Gamecocks completed a three-game sweep of the Wildcats in Columbia. UK starting pitcher Seth Stanley was perfect through 5 2/3 innings before the Gamecocks got to him for four runs on six consecutive hits with two outs in the sixth.

  • Kentucky Falls For Second Straight Time At South Carolina    Kentucky fell for the second consecutive time, 7-2, to the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia S.C., on Saturday, May 3. The Cats were limited to just six hits in the game, and only four by South Carolina starter David Marchbanks.
  • Gamecocks beat Cats on bases-loaded walk   South Carolina broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning with a bases-loaded walk, and the Gamecocks held on to beat Kentucky 5-4 yesterday.

  • Pinner stuck with NFL dreams    Bessie Herring laughed and told it like it is, which she is good at doing.
    "We are just ecstatic," she said Monday morning only 24 hours after her grandson, Artose Pinner, was drafted as the 99th overall pick in the National Football League draft by the Detroit Lions . "I'm going to have to have a 10-gallon hat to fit on my head. And his mother needs a bathtub with flowers on it."
  • Millen breaks down Lions' draft haul    Fourth round   This is where the Lions may have hit the jackpot. With the second pick of the round, the 99th overall, they chose Kentucky running back Artose Pinner. In his only season as a starter, Pinner led the SEC in rushing with 1,414 yards and ran for more than 3,000 yards as a high school senior.

  • Kentucky Loses Heartbreaker, 5-4, at South Carolina    With two outs in the top of the ninth inning, Kentucky's Caleb Brock blasted a line drive to left center field that was tracked down by left fielder Michael Campbell, who made a spectacular leaping catch against the wall to kill UK's chances of a comeback and secure a 5-4 win for South Carolina.
